A) WEBSITE NAME

  • Shock
  • ShoeStock
  • CrepStock
  • CrepShock

CHOSEN NAME
CrepShock

The reason I chose this name is because I feel that it's a memorable name as it's extremely simple whilst also informing the user of what the website will feature before they even enter it through the use of the word 'Crep'; the word 'Shock' will intrigue people as they will wonder why the website would shock them.

B) REFERENCE LOGOS

The StockX logo is quite plain but it's also striking at the same time. The reason for this is because the word stock is written in a regular looking font in a standard black colour. However, the X on the logo is green to draw attention to it; the x features an arrow going up which indicates to a on-looker that the website has something to do with trading. If I were to take elements from this logo I would take the design concept which allows the X to stand out over the stock writing - aka the colour and scale of the design.

The Instagram logo is very bold and colourful - this attracts the attention of a user immediately as it's pleasing to look at whilst also being quickly identifiable by it's user-base and also people that don't even use the app. The logo features a minimalist camera design in white surrounded by a purple/pink/gold gradient on the outer stroke. If I were to take elements from this logo it would be the shape of the logo because it's modern and sleek as it's not a boxy shape. Typically, boxy shape designs are associated with the 1980's to early 2000's so a shape like Instagram's logo would be a perfect fit for my website's logo.

The Spotify logo is quite subtle but striking at the same time similar to the StockX logo. The reason for this is because it features an extremely minimalist design. The design essentially consists of a green circle with three lines that represent a speaker icon. This helps users instantly identify what the website behind the logo does as speakers are usually associated with music. If I were to take elements from this logo it would be the overall minimalist design as I want my logo to be instantly recognisable but not overly-complicated to the point where the user doesn't understand what's happening in the logo.

D) FONT DESIGNS

I) TITLE FONT

Out of these fonts, I will choose the Gotham Bold font to be my main title font. The reason for this is because I want the font to catch a users eye instantly with the size and weight that accompanies this font. Additionally, the font bodes well with many background designs which help broaden the amount of design idea's I can implement into the final page.

II) SUB-TITLE FONT

Out of these fonts, I will choose the Gill Sans Nova font to be my main sub-title font. The reason for this is because it compliments the design of the title font I chose really well whilst also being eye catching on it's own. On top of that, the font is very easy to read which helps if your putting important information in the sub-titles.

III) MAIN TEXT FONT

Out of these fonts, I will choose the Franklin Gothic font to be my main general text font. The reason for this is because it also has a similar design palette in comparison to the Gotham Bold font and the Gill Sans Nova font whilst also simultaneously being unique with subtle curves around the edges of the letters which make it more appealing to read from. The font is also quite bold and stands out which benefits the user as it's naturally easy to read.
